Malvern, Quilts uk goodies!!

We recently visited Quilts UK in Malvern, which we had previously missed in the spring due to the arrival of my darling Rosie not long before, and my lovely mum's heart surgery (including major emergency open heart surgery due to her heart being punctured accidently) falling on the day we had tickets for! Mum is much better now, she's not totally recovered but getting there, I am so glad she's ok, my mum is my best friend, my inspiration, my mentor, I couldn't imagine life without her :-)

So off we went armed with baby, pram and multiple supplies for our day out! Again I cleverly forgot to take my camera to capture some of the incredible quilts displayed, but once home I decided to photograph my stash from the day, I didn't actually buy what I planned, but hey ho!

Some Tula Pink

Various fat quarters.

A lovely halloween bunting panel, I didn't make this up in time, but hopefully for next halloween ;-)

A lovely bundle of sample pieces, all of these cost me a bargainous £15.00, super pleased with my haul!

Now I really should stop buying, and start making! Watch this space!

Local Quilt Shows..

I've recently attended a few local quilt shows, My little one Rosie has been joining myself and my mum too, never to young to start quilting hey!

I cleverly forgot to take photographs of them all except our own little quilt show at abermule at which I was helping for a few hours on one of the days! I haven't actually attended our group much since having Rosie, its in the evening which makes it difficult, although we have one afternoon session a month, which I occasionally take Rosie to!

The view from our sales table!

The huge wall hanging we made for Abermule school.

My dresden plate.

This was the charity quilt our group made, using patchwork fabrics donated by a member of our groups family when she sadly passed away. This will be raffled in the future!

I quilted the whole quilt on our frame, with a stipple/vermicelli pattern freehand.

That's my Amy Butler quilt peeping out there!

My lovely black and white quilt, mum patched for christmas and I quilted!

Mum's quilt!
Enjoy,

A few purchases and a WIP!

In the last few months I haven't done a huge amount of sewing, but I have been shopping, as you do... these are a few of my favourite purchases :-)

Love stitch - Graphic box of threads from Linda and Laura Kemshall (A huge congratulations to Laura who has recently given birth to a beautiful little girl)
Some summersville from Lu Summers Also some washi, from Rashida Coleman-Hale and some others whose names escape me right now!
Some lovely bright out of print fat quarters from Frumble a awesome, relatively new uk fabric shop, gorgeous, gorgeous fabrics, check them out!
And a sew line fabric pen and refills, I've heard great things about these, using them to help speed up english paper piecing so I'm going to give it ago!

 A WIP!
And also, a work in progress, I seem to have stalled on this at the moment, but Im hoping to carry on once I set up my lovely new sewing machine!!!!!! (sorry crappy phone picture)

That's all for now! Kellye xxx

First Quilt Bee Block!

I recently joined a online quilt bee, through Anna of Quilting Along the Grain whom I met through twitter! She had been asking if anyone would like to join her in a quilt bee, and I jumped at the chance! I hadn't had the chance to do much, if any sewing/quilting etc since Rosie arrived so thought that it would be a great chance to make some new quilty friends and have some motivation and a reason to sew!

Anyway, Anna sent us the september block fabrics and posted the instructions up on the blog, which is here, and off we all go!

Cutting my strips to size and pinning them.

Sewn together.

The Finished block!

Anna's inspiration was a bookcase, she asked that we include one of our own fabrics to indicate our bookend, I used some amy butler (L-R Second to last) I really hope she likes it!

I'm back, again!!

Well, it seems that I have had a huge break from blogging, but with good reason, welcome to my blog my beautiful little girl Rosie, born 8th march 2012, 8.17pm via emergency c-section in shrewsbury hospital!

My baby girl has some problems with heart which will eventually require surgery, but she is thriving and happy and content and truly the most amazing and precious little treasure, I love her sooooo much, I honestly believe I was born to be a mummy :-D

Rosie is 6 months tomorrow and I just cant believe where the time has gone!

Hexys, knitting and some WIPs!

Well autumn has well and truly arrived, it is wet and dull and generally a bit ick! And its christmas in less than 7 weeks!!

I haven't had a chance to do a lot lately, mainly catch up with sleeping! There is a quilt on my desk that is 3/4 quilted, which I need to finish and photo, and blog about, but in the mean time here are a few bits I am working on...

Knitting, well attempting to learn to knit, this will, hopefully be a scarf one day..
Paper pieced hexagons, I always thought this was a long drawn out project, but I find them pretty quick to make, and I really really enjoy making them too!
I sit on the sofa, with my box of scraps, needle, thread and scissors and away to go!!
A small flannel quilt in progress for the baby :-)
Another quilt in progress for the baby should he be a he! In fact I have a few in progress quilts for the baby, oops!
That is all that I have pictures of for now, also working on some felt and leather brooches which I will show off soon!

A few things..

These are few things I have recently finished/are a work in progress... I am attempting to finish my UFO's before starting anything new, however, it's harder than I thought..

Thermofax screenprinted cushion, I printed the fabric a few weeks ago and made this up on my birthday, when I had a day off!

Wonky close up of the print!
My discharged and screen printed peice made at a workshop with the lovely Ineke Berlyn, complete and bound. Im not sure what purpose this has now, but I couldn't bear to cut it up to make it into something!
A close up of some detailed thread sketching/quilting!

And a sneak of what Im working on currently..

A small wallhanging all hand applique. Im just putting off binding it as the binding is soo narrow :-S

A little christmas wallhanging, all hand quilted, I thoroughly enjoyed doing this, again just the binding to finish..bah binding.
And another small printed peice, with machine and hand stitching. This is bound already but I decided it needs more stitching before it's finished, and perhaps some beads, who knows!
That's all for now, Enjoy, Kellye xxx
